Had it for the first time at a party, they catered bentos and the chicken was so good! It looked like it was gonna be dry or tasteless but shockingly it was the opposite ! Decided I'd go to the store for once since I had off. It did not say that it was cash only until I was face to face with the cashier. She was rude and off putting but I guess bc we didn't know what to order exactly being our first time. The food is great, but their hours are complete shit. Wish they were open til at least 4 since the earliest I get off is 2pm smh. The place is kind of a whole in the wall, parking very minimal. The place is old, but the food is great.

Love this place! Huge piece of chicken and a huge musubi. 2 meals for me. It's a great option when we're going on a trip. My grandkids request it.

Today was last day of school for the Keiki. So my co-workers and I decided to order take out . My co-worker suggested lunch Box located on Sand Island Access Rd . We ordered Bento #J it comes with Rice, Teri beef, spam, Salmon and Mochicko chicken with Edamame on top. It was very tasty and very filling . Looking at the bento first I thought it was very little . Once you start eating than it's actually filling. Prices are reasonable and service was okay . The cashier wasn't to friendly no thank you or whatsoever. This place also sell pre-made musubi , drinks and some bento already made . They recommend to order ahead of time because they make fresh chicken so you'll need to wait if you wanted a bento that they don't have already . Support local

Lunch box kitchen is still a great option to swing by to pick up cheap food before heading to the airport (where everything there is $$$$)! I love breakfast food, but in my haste to phone in an order, I accidentally ordered a spam, hot dog, and mochiko chicken bento. I usually don't like mochiko chicken, but it was delicious! I even packed ketchup with me for the plane ride, but I didn't need it because the mochiko chicken was super flavorful! I'll definitely remain torn in the future about ordering the bento again or going with the breakfast option! CASH ONLY!

Ok this place sells out quickly and is only open half day but y'all gotta try this place. It's on sand island road. Parking is right in front. Just a walk in place to grab food and you can also place to go orders. Their mochiko chicken and the musubi is sooooo good! Definitely check this place out!

We must have came too late because we weren't able to order their lunch plates. We only had the options of whatever bento available on the table. Got two bentos and both had mochiko chicken. I heard the mochiko chicken is the best here. I agree it was pretty good. Even though it wasn't freshly made, the mochiko chicken was yummy. Something about the flour they use tastes different from other places that makes mochiko chicken. My bento had the tuna gobo onigiri. That onigiri was huge. The taste was okay to me though. Need to get there early for better food options.

Cash only, takeout, local grinds. Good tasting food at a good price, what's not to love. Friendly service, no seating. Take and go eat elsewhere. Strip mall with row parking in the front.

I pass this place every week and finally decided to try it. Its in the strip mall where Rons performance ysed to be on sand island access road. Its not really a place to eat in. Its definetely a place to just grab and go.... (pic) The staff was friendly and super cool. The menu consisted of your average local breakfast items (no hash browns ). Plate lunches.. sandwiches and alot of bentos (makes sense hence their name). I went with their "I bento". spam hotdog hash and mochiko chicken... food was quality and resonably priced along with all their menu items.. A pretty cool option for some quality food served by appreciative and cool staff..

Takeout Lunch from Sand Island Access Road in Honolulu, Hawaii... I've had Lunch Box Kitchen of Hawaii bookmarked for a while. It's located in the middle of a strip mall in an industrial part of town... Not the most scenic nor ritzy part of the city... I found free parking right in front and entered the straightforward establishment. There was a pile of musubis and bentos on the table, so, I just grabbed the Kombu musubi bento with the Mochiko Chicken (I saw Allen N.'s photo). The cashier behind the acrylic wall was frank and told me to place my cash in the box on the tray. She slid the tray towards herself to retrieve the cash. She told me that the utensils were to my left (at the self-service area with the napkins). Ok! Thanks! I drove off and went to the beach to have my lunch. The edamame were easy to consume. The Mochiko Chicken was a bit messy because the crispy flakes would fall off. I liked the hint of sweetness in the crunchy batter, but didn't really care for the greasiness. They did partially debone the chicken - which I appreciate! The musubi was just as gigantic as the chicken! I enjoyed the Kombu (seaweed) flavor in the middle of the rice ball! It was a filling meal and I'd be willing to return if I was in the area again!
